OVERVIEW
Tafa’aol تفاعل, (vibrant interaction in Arabic) will strengthen citizen engagement and participation in public life, especially by women and youth. Tafa’aol enables Iraqi civil society to respond to citizen needs.
GOALS
Increase the engagement and agency of citizens: Tafa’aol تفاعل empowers citizens and CSOs alongside emerging civic leaders to identify community needs and engage in addressing these needs.
Increase sustainability and resilience of civil society organizations: Tafa’aol تفاعل strengthens CSOs to mobilize local resources and assets for civic actors, local organizations, community leaders, and movements to represent citizens’ interests to the government. The activity supports the formation of networks and coalitions that share knowledge, take advantage of windows of opportunity, and improve organizational effectiveness.
Strengthen citizen’s trust in local governance: Tafa’aol تفاعل supports transparency and accountability of civil society and government through innovative solutions that expand access to information for citizens and create a conducive environment for good local governance.
ANTICIPATED RESULTS
- Increased participation and leadership of women and youth in civil society.
- Improved networking and coalition-building to enable CSOs to advocate on behalf of their constituents.
- Increased accountability of local and national policymakers through CSO engagement of citizens in democratic processes.
- Effective response of CSOs to emerging challenges such as climate change, lack of opportunities for women, or changes in CSOs’ operating environment.
