Jordan’s universities graduate thousands of engineers every year. These Graduates face serious competition when looking for a job. USAID and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing have cooperated to create opportunities for the young graduates to kickstart their career within USAID-funded school projects.
They need to build their skills with on-the-job training and education. Al Mostaqbal Engineering and Environmental Consultants is one of four Consulting Engineers working at a USAID-funded school construction project. New engineers are mentored during weekly training sessions (in addition to the on-site training) and they have access to an online interactive Knowledge Café platform to connect with others in their field.
Eng. Fadwa Abu Ghaida, (PHOTO BELOW) the Project Director from “Al Mostaqbal” says: “As part of our responsibilities toward young Engineers, we developed the online Knowledge Café platform, to engage the fresh Graduate Engineers in different activities that will enhance their professional and interpersonal skills.”
Eng. Maysoon Al Hyari, the Senior Government Liaison at Trigon says “I feel it’s our duty to transfer our knowledge to the young generation of engineers to widen their experience.”
Sharing knowledge among Professionals is critical for continuous development and improvement in the quality of work products. It empowers the Engineers to do their job both efficiently and effectively, skipping a lengthy trial and error process!
