The below is attributable to Spokesperson Benjamin Suarato:

Today, Administrator Samantha Power spoke with UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell. They discussed health and humanitarian emergencies in Gaza and Sudan. Administrator Power expressed appreciation for UNICEF’s leadership and strategic partnership in meeting humanitarian needs around the world, and for hosting and ensuring strong governance of the Education Cannot Wait global fund for education in emergencies and protracted crises. Administrator Power also welcomed the participation of two young advocates in the UNICEF Executive Board special session on climate and children.

Administrator Power and Executive Director Russell also discussed USAID and UNICEF’s ongoing efforts to elevate attention to lead exposure, a widely neglected yet highly tractable issue affecting one-in-two children in low- and middle-income countries.
