On May 17, USAID, Ho Chi Minh City(HCMC) government officials, and private sector representatives celebrated energy efficiency gains and new sources of renewable energy at the close out of the Vietnam Urban Energy Security Project.
Results include the development HCMC’s net-zero emission strategy and implementation roadmap, the mobilization of $4.2 million in investment capital for clean energy developers and start-ups, training more than 500 financial institution staff on lending for clean energy projects, and training nearly 200 government officials and company managers on the adoption of energy efficiency policies.
Through USAID support, HCMC is serving as a model for how cities across Vietnam can improve energy security, increase environmental resilience, and advance Vietnam’s net-zero emissions goals.
