On July 15, Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell visited the YALI RLC West Africa (Accra) during the RLC’s Digital Solutions cohort and engaged with approximately 15 members, including two virtually from Cameroon and Nigeria. The alumni and participants of the digital solutions training cohort focused on development challenges in Africa. The current digital solutions cohort included more than 200 young people from nine countries who are developing innovative business, social, and public sector initiatives using digital technologies to solve specific community problems. Participants spoke of facing challenges typical to business and social entrepreneurs including product development, prototyping, upscaling, and marketing due to policy issues. Deputy Secretary Campbell mentioned he would be going to visit President Joe Biden following the meeting and would share their ideas and concerns.
