Building upon a successful partnership with the YALI Regional Leadership Center (RLC) Southern Africa, the Trevor Noah Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the YALI RLC in East Africa. This collaboration, which reached 134 young leaders in Southern Africa, will extend the reach of the Foundation’s Education ChangeMakers program to 80 emerging young leaders within the education sector across 14 countries in East and Central Africa. The committed $235,000 will support training, grant challenges, with grants of up to $30,000 for implementing winning initiatives. In conjunction with this effort, the Microsoft African Development Center (ADC) will be delivering a Technology in Education module during this training. This module will focus on how technology can enhance teaching and learning, empower educators, and equip students for the future. It will also explore innovative solutions to challenges within the education sector using Microsoft's tools and platforms. Participants will have the opportunity to acquire in-demand technical skills such as coding, data analysis, and digital marketing, unlocking new pathways for economic growth. Additionally, collaborative initiatives post-training will be discussed to maximize the effective use of technology in educational environments, including sessions on generative AI applications in education. The cohort is scheduled to run from June 10 to July 5.
