Point-of-care tools are medical devices or applications used at the site of patient care in communities to provide immediate diagnostic results. This enables health care staff to provide needed care sooner. USAID supported Khanh Hoa, one of Vietnam’s high TB burden provinces, to conduct mobile community TB screenings using AI for chest X-rays and Truenat molecular tests. Local health center staff were also trained in behavior change communication to improve TB knowledge within the community.
Engaging at the community level with TB screening through innovative point-of-care diagnostic tools improves the timely detection and treatment of active and latent TB cases, improving patient outcomes and reducing transmission of the airborne disease.
