Yemen’s school-age children represent nearly 33 percent of the country’s overall population and their access to proper sanitation is critical. Lack of proper bathroom facilities at schools in Yemen’s Taiz governorate meant students had to interrupt their school day to walk home and miss their lessons.

To raise awareness about the challenges they face, Yemeni women politicians created an advocacy campaign titled “I am a Politician and it is My Right to Participate.”

Midwives play a vital role in improving maternal and child survival in Yemen. Meet Rasha, a midwife who opened a home-based clinic with USAID support to serve her community in a remote area with hard-to-reach health services.

USAID is committed to supporting Yemen’s health workers to meet the needs of their communities. To replace paper-based reporting of health data, the USAID Systems, Health and Resiliency Project launched a new digital platform in Aden, Lahj, and Taiz governorates through 72 trained health workers and experts.
