CHECK BACK! Once USAID appoints an Agency Scientific Integrity Official and launches its Policy on Fostering a Culture of Scientific Integrity, details on seeking advice through consultations and formally filing an allegation will be posted below.

Seeking Advice or Assistance

To help the Agency build and foster a culture of scientific integrity, USAID encourages the identification of situations early on that could potentially lead to violations of scientific integrity. There is a lot the Agency can do to improve processes and training that will improve how we produce, manage, use, and communicate science, and how we help strengthen our partner countries in doing the same. Through informal consultations, staff and partners are encouraged to seek advice from and bring matters to the attention of USAID’s Scientific Integrity Official.

Reporting a Scientific Integrity Complaint

If advice and assistance from the Agency Scientific Integrity Official is insufficient to resolve an issue, any individual or entity internal or external to USAID may file an allegation. To report a scientific integrity allegation, it must be submitted in writing to the Agency Scientific Integrity Official (SIO), one of the Deputy Scientific Integrity Officials (DSIOs), or the Office of the Inspector General.

CHECK BACK! Details on what should be included in an initial notice of an allegation or scientific and scholarly misconduct or loss of scientific integrity will be articulated here once finalized and approved.
